Brian Chapman, originally from Milwaukee, first became a part-time plasterer/painter in 1996 while attending UW-Platteville his sophomore year, this is when he began working with his best friend/man at the time, Dan Emmons. Dan’s father, Al Emmons, owned a Plastering company in South Milwaukee where he and Dan would work on weekends and summers when needed.
Brian, would continue to work with this company throughout his college experience (UW-Platteville) from 1994 to 1998. As Dan Emmons left college early (1996), he started his own stucco/plastering company, and when Brian graduated from college in 1998, he ended up working for Dan.
Brian eventually left his work with Dan, and ultimately started his first painting company, Chapman’s Painting Service in 2002, which he operated until 2011.
He serviced the Lake Geneva / Lakes Area (Elkhorn/Delavan) communities during those years by providing the best possible customer service, in interior painting (repaint, remodels, new construction) and exterior painting (on many lake homes). Knowing plaster and drywall, Brian also provided drywall/plaster repair service as well. Knowing how to match numerous textures.
In 2011, Brian and his family moved back his college town of Platteville, where he and his lovely wife Angie had first met. He started his second business, Straightway Painting & Plastering, Inc., which he currently operates to this day.
He and his crew have worked on many different types of homes and applied their products expertly upon many different types of surfaces. Whether its drywall, plaster, trim, doors, windows, floors, cabinets, cedar siding, cement boards, log homes, stucco, concrete block, and many more, he and his crew can get the job done, quickly, efficiently, neatly, and expertly.
Our products are many, but to list a few, we use products from Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin-Moor, Valspar, Zinsser, Rustolueum, Kilz, and plaster products from Total Wall, Sto, United States Gypsum (Imperial), National Gypsum (Kal-Kote), and drywall board and taping mud from local suppliers.
